Victory Verses, Part 2

In the context of the books they came from, yes, these verses were meant for God’s chosen people, the Israelites. However, his word says when we choose to follow Jesus, God adopts us as sons and daughters (Galatians 4:4-7). Therefore, in surrendering to Jesus as Lord and Savior, we become God’s chosen people. Thus, these victory verses are our own. We can place our name into the verses, and they are still valid.

  • Judges 3:28 – “Follow me,” he ordered, “for the Lord has given Moab, your enemy, into your hands.”
  • Judges 6:12,16 – The Lord is with you, mighty warrior. I will be with you…
  • Judges 7:9,15 – Get up, go down against the camp, because I am going to give it into your hands. Get up! The Lord has given the Midianite camp into your hands.
  • 1 Samuel 17:45-37 – David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands…all those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.
  • 1 Kings 17:14 – For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel says:  The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.
  • 1 Kings 18:43 – “Go and look toward the sea,” Elijah told his servant. And he went up and looked. “There is nothing there,” he said. Seven times Elijah said, “Go back.” The seventh time the servant reported, “A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.” So Elijah said, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you’.” Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain started falling, and Ahab rode off to Jezreel.
  • 2 Kings 18:6,7He held fast to the Lord and did not stop following him; he kept the commands the Lord had given Moses. And the Lord was with him; he was successful in whatever he undertook.
  • 1 Chronicles 18:6 – The Lord gave David victory wherever he went.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:7,8 – Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged…for there is a greater power with us than with him. With him is only the arm of flesh (human strength), but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.
  • Nehemiah 2:20 – The God of heaven will give us success.
  • Nehemiah 4:20 – Our God will fight for us!
  • Esther 4:14 – And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?
