Words Have Power

A wonderful, Spirit filled couple once told me we have to watch what we say, and speak our prayers and beliefs into existence. My mentors said our words have power. That day after church, my then husband and I wanted to take some friends boating, but it was cloudy with a chance of rain.  We went anyways and I prayed out loud “Lord, I’m trying this speaking-my-prayers-into-existence thing. If you believe this is important, then show me. I pray the clouds go away, and we get just enough sunshine for an afternoon of fun”.

I repeated to myself a couple of times out loud that I believed He would answer, just to help me really believe it.

He Answered:         After we got to the lake, the sky sprinkled for a few minutes then stopped. About fifteen minutes later, the clouds started to thin out. Half an hour later, there were clouds around the horizon, but most of the sky was clear and the sun shone warm on us for about four hours! At supper time the clouds began to roll back in!

My prayer was answered, and God really did show me the truth about the power of our words! So speak cautiously because the Bible says,

The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences. Proverbs 18:21 NLT
