This blog isn’t about the trials in my life; it isn’t even about me. What our heavenly Father has done for me, and in me, during the hard times has left this part of my life like a treasure trove of priceless gems. I once joked with my friends that the learning curve God had me on was incredibly steep, you know…like Everest!
One year my daughter got influenza A. She was sick and could not consume food or water for about a week. I panicked. I was a single mother again, and I did not feel I could take much time off work. If she was sick for a week, and my son became sick for a week…and me, that would be almost a whole month! When she came home from her dad’s house sick, I immediately quarantined my daughter in her room. I got Tamiflu for my son and me, then I turned to our Divine Physician. Disclaimer: the Divine Physician should always come first! I took my Frankincense oil, one of his first birthday gifts and prayed,
Lord, you gave me your two little children to take care of. You knew I’d be in this position long before I did. Now here I stand, a single working mother, and I can’t provide for or care for your gifts if I get sick myself.
I reminded our Lord how he told us in his word that he gave us authority over illnesses and evil spirits, as written in Luke 10:19. So with the oil, in the name of the Father, his son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit I anointed each door in our home. I commanded the spirit of infirmity to leave, and I claimed the blood of Jesus over our house and our bodies.
My daughter recovered from the flu within a few days after my prayer. My son and I never did get sick, even just a little bit. I have continued to offer our bodies and my work to the Lord in prayer, and our heavenly Father has continued to protect us and keep us healthy…just like he promised in his word. The flu has been back to our school system. We have not caught it. Strep throat went around for a time. We avoided strep throat. In fact, we have not gotten an illness worse than the common cold since this event in our lives, in 2017. God promised he would take care of us, and he has. Our Lord is truly mighty to save!
You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
Psalm 91:5-8
