Priorities

At one point in time, as I was learning to seek my Lord, I got so busy I could hardly think. I have since learned that if busyness is successful in keeping you from knowing God, then the devil will use it over and over again.

My daughter was little at the time so she couldn’t take care of herself, and being a single mother, I had to be careful to please my boss. So I prayed for snow on a Monday in order to cancel my daughter’s soccer game. Monday was the evening a group of ladies were holding our book meeting, and I didn’t want to miss it.

The Lord used the book, 12 Steps for Christians published by RPI Publishing, to help me recognize my sin. I was able to open up to my heavenly Father more as I learned what characteristics I had showing I made futile attempts to be safe, comfortable and control my relationships and surroundings. Because my merciful God used this book in my life, I was able to begin healing. I was able to put down all the burdens I didn’t realize I was carrying, burdens that were not mine to carry.

My heavenly Father has used many resources in my life. Just when I need a lesson, healing, or some other type of help, he guides a person, song, or book into my life to speak to me. He is so gentle, and so creative!

Monday came, and about three inches of wet heavy snow fell on the surrounding area! Soccer practice was cancelled, our book meeting was not!

Blessed are those who keep his statues and seek him with all their heart- Psalm 119:2
